At the second race of the winter rallycross series ”RallyX On Ice”, plenty of new names appears on the starting grid. From Global Rallycross in the US, 23-year-old Austin Dyne will join the series to make his debut on ice in Sweden. Dyne, who represented Bryan Herta Motorsport in the GRC series has, despite his young age, a really stable track record. With podiums in both Supercar and Supercar Lites in the US, Dyne, with his great driving experience, will be a new name to follow for the Swedish audience.
– I’ve come to Sweden the last 2 winters to drive a lights car on the is in Kall. Andreas Eriksson had me come out before my first season in a super car in GRC and learned a lot for him. Aswell as this last winter with my teammate in GRC Patrik Sandell who taught me a lot. So I feel Pretty good about my chances and its Rallycross so I guess we’ll see what happens!. Says Dyne about his dayview in RallyX On Ice.
Another new name to look out for is the Finnish driver Miki Weckström. Weckström has a background in formula car racing and his merits include, for instance, the Formula Renault Eurocup. Now, he’ll have to get a grip with a new type of challenge and he’s stoked for his first ever rallycross race.
– We’ve tested for two days with the SET-promotion in Finland and that’s my only experience in rallycross so far. I have no real expectations for my debut, we’re here to learn the discipline and the objective is to drive Supercar Lites in the US this upcoming season. Says Weckström, who will become the second Finn together with Niclas Grönholm in RallyX On Ice.
The second round of RallyX On Ice runs in the area around Statoil, Lindvallen at Friday 2/26.
