Lites drivers lead OMSE charge into GRC finale

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (November 3, 2015) – The next generation of rallycross superstars are leading the Olsbergs MSE’s Red Bull Global Rallycross championship charge this week in Las Vegas. Young team drivers Austin Cindric and Oliver Eriksson top the Lites standings heading into the final race of the year on Wednesday.

The race for the Lites development title has been fierce this year, with the points lead trading back and forth through the top drivers in the field at virtually every stop. The favorites for the title are Cindric, who has four wins so far this season and narrowly leads the standings, and OMSE teammate Eriksson, who has won three races in 2015, and is just three points back.

Drivers are allowed to drop their lowest score of the season, which leaves the two effectively tied in the standings. On Wednesday, the higher result better than eighth from Cindric or Eriksson can clinch the title for one of these two up-and-coming drivers.

The season ender features a record 14 entries in the Lites category, with OMSE’s World RX Lites driver Sandra Hultgren joining the field to race for the first time in the United States. Also new to the team for this stacked event are guests Andreas Wernersson, a Junior Swedish Touring Car driver, and American rallycross rookie Gustavo Menezes.

In the Supercars field, Red Bull / Bluebeam drivers Sebastian Eriksson and defending champion Joni Wiman are also battling for top results. Wiman is chasing his first career win and a spot in the top three of the championship standings, while Eriksson is looking to add a fifth podium result to his 2015 tally and put a cap on his successful Rookie of the Year charge.

The Olsbergs MSE Supercars drivers are also fighting for a fifth-consecutive Manufacturer’s Championship in the series. Ford has put at least one driver on every Supercar podium this season and needs one more strong result to lock down the title.

For the fourth year in a row, the Red Bull GRC finale has been on the schedule to coincide with the Specialty Equipment Market Association show at the Las Vegas Convention Center. SEMA is the premier automotive aftermarket show in the world and attracts more than 100,000 attendees, including many friends and team partners.

Round 12 in the Red Bull Global Rallycross championship takes place on Wednesday, November 4, under the lights on the Las Vegas Strip. Gates open at 3:30 and the Lites final is set for 7:25 p.m. The Supercars final is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
