OMSE X Forces And Oliver Eriksson To Defend Their 2015 GRC Lites Title

OMSE X Forces announces that driver Oliver Eriksson will defend his Lites title in the 2016 Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship. In last year’s 12-race season, Eriksson earned three victories and nine podiums, including six consecutive podiums to end the year.

For 2015, Eriksson joins the Red Bull team as an official athlete for the season. His OMSE X Forces car will also campaign in a Red Bull livery,

“The GRC Lites races are very competitive and I look forward to racing against a talented field of young drivers,” said 17-year-old Eriksson. “I’m ready for the challenge and want to improve even more this year.”

“Oliver has worked hard over the winter competing in several Rally X Ice races in Sweden,” said team owner Andreas Eriksson. “It’s the first time in Lites we have a driver coming back to defend their title. That will bring new pressures for Oliver and will continue his growth as a racer. This type of experience and driver development is good for the long-term future of the sport.”

Driver Cole Keatts will also join OMSE as Eriksson’s Lites teammate. Fifteen-year-old Keatts is the 2015 Junior 2 Kart Champion in the in the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series. A dominant young driver in the off-road world, Cole will make his Red Bull Global Rallycross debut this season.

“I am so pumped to have the opportunity to join OMSE X Forces for my first year in GRC Lites,” said Keatts. “I’m looking forward to working with the team and Oliver, who I watched and cheered on last year as he became champion.”

“We welcome Cole to the team this year,” said Andreas Erikkson. “We were looking for a fresh face and somebody completely new to the sport, but with the skills needed to succeed in rallycross. Cole’s prior racing success and experience will be of great value in his first year with our team.”

Olsbergs MSE has coached the GRC Lites champion the last three seasons.

“GRC Lites has seen steady growth over the last three years, and every year the talent level gets higher. This year we expect to see the biggest grids ever for Lites, which shows that the future of rallycross is in good hands as long as we continue to invest in our young drivers.”

With their world headquarters in Sweden and their North American operation in Charlotte, OMSE will also field two supercars in partnership with Honda and Red Bull. The Honda Civic Red Bull GRC team and the OMSE X Forces Lites will both race on May 21 at Red Bull GRC’s season-opener in Phoenix.
