Today, rallycross team Olsbergs MSE announced two of its drivers for Supercar Lites in the RallyX Supercar Scandanavia. Sandra Hultgren, 21, from Charlottenberg in Värmland and Kevin Eriksson, 17, of Nynashamn will pilot opposite Supercar Lites in next year’s championship.
“It feels amazing to have this opportunity. It will be great and I will do my best to use this in a good way. But I will be very nervous the first race,” says Sandra. Before switching to rallycross and folkrace in 2009, she had much success with the Swedish downhill elite.
Kevin Eriksson, son of team principal, Andreas Eriksson made his rallycross debut this year in the Super 1600 class in the European Rallycross Championship. Kevin found the top spot of the podium in only his second event and is now looking forward to competing on home ground. “It will be really fun to compete at “a high level in Sweden, the car is fun to drive and STCC’s arrangement with rallycross feels very good. This is a new approach and it will be a good series,” said Kevin.
The interest in the new Supercar Lites class run by OlsbergsMSE has been great. “It looks very good already and I’m very happy to add these two talented drivers to our own team,” said Andreas. “ Sandra impressed me during our tests, and it will be very interesting to follow her development.” When asked about his expectation for Kevin, Andreas commented, “ He has done very well in his debut year in rallycross and I hope he will continue to develop at the same rate over the next year.”
Supercar Lites is a perfect class for those who are aiming to gain rallycross experience. The cars are all wheel driven and similarly constructed, like a supercar. It makes a natural step to the next level. Nearly 40 drivers tested the car this fall; 8 cars are ready now for the 2014 season.
9-10 May will be the premiere of Supercar Lites in conjunction with STCC and RallyX Supercar Scandanavia at Knutstorp
